Frequently Asked Questions

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept cash,  credit cards*, debit cards,  money orders or checks with two forms of ID.  We can not accept starter checks or two-party checks. We require a driver's license number and phone number on all checks.   


* Credit cards accepted are :Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. 

What are your office hours?

We are open Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm.   We are closed for state holidays

When are you the busiest?

Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are typically our busiest times. 

I sold my car, what should I do with my license plate?

If you will not be transferring the plate to another vehicle, the plate needs to be turned in before you cancel your insurance. 

What are insurance requirements?

 

North Carolina requires that you provide proof of insurance when registering your vehicle.


Acceptable proofs of insurance include:

  • Owner provides insurance company name and policy number
  • Or, a certificate of Insurance (FS-1), obtained from an insurance company that is licensed to do business in North Carolina

Minimum Liability Insurance Requirements for Licensing:

The minimum requirements of liability insurance for a private passenger vehicle is $30,000 for bodily injury for one person; $60,000 bodily injury for two or more people and $25,000 property damage.


North Carolina law requires insurance companies to notify DMV when coverage has been cancelled.
